Stimulus Payment of $725 Starts in Sacramento: Are You Eligible?

Beginning Sunday, June 15, 2025, the California government will launch a program to provide monthly stimulus payments of $725 to selected residents in Sacramento County.

This initiative is part of the Family Economic Support Pilot Program (FFESP), which aims to support families with young children who are facing financial difficulties.

What Is the Program About?

The program will be run by the Sacramento County Department of Child, Family and Adult Services. Its goal is to provide families with a guaranteed monthly income to help alleviate economic stress.

It is primarily funded by California state grants. It focuses on preventing child abuse and reducing foster care entries—especially in African American and Native American communities that have historically experienced higher rates of child welfare system involvement.

Who Can Qualify for the Payments?

Eligibility for the program is based on four main criteria:

  • Residency Requirement. Applicants must live in one of the following Sacramento County zip codes: 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, or 95838.
  • Guardianship and Child Age. Applicants must be the parent or legal guardian of an African American, American Indian, or Alaska Native child aged 0 to 5 years, living with them at least 50% of the time.
  • Household Income. Household income must be below 200% of the federal poverty level. The income limits depend on household size:
    • For a household of two (one adult and one child): $40,880
    • For three people: $51,640
    • For four people: $62,400
    • Add $10,760 for each additional family member.
  • No Participation in Other Guaranteed Income Programs. Applicants cannot be part of any other government- or privately-funded guaranteed income programs.

Additional Details

Importantly, immigration status does not affect eligibility. This ensures that families from various backgrounds—regardless of their immigration status—can apply for assistance.

How Will the Program Work?

A total of 200 eligible participants will be selected to receive payments of $725 per month for a full year, from June 15, 2025, through July 15, 2026.

The selection process will be random, and families will be notified between May 5 and June 6, 2025 via email, phone call, or text message.

What Documents Are Needed?

Selected families will need to provide documents to verify their eligibility:

  • Identity: Options include a driver’s license, passport, tribal ID card, permanent resident card, or military ID.
  • Residency: Proof can include a lease agreement, recent utility bills, or mortgage statements.

Final Thoughts

This program offers much-needed financial relief to families in Sacramento County, particularly those facing economic hardships.

By providing steady monthly payments, it seeks to empower vulnerable families while addressing systemic inequities in child welfare systems. If you meet the criteria, make sure to apply and check your eligibility before the notification window closes.
