$1,312 Stimulus Checks Going Out to Eligible Alaskans

Residents of Alaska have something to look forward to. Some are receiving a $1,312 stimulus check, known as the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD), this April.

While most of these payments were already sent out last October, there are still thousands of Alaskans who didn't collect their checks on time. Now, they're getting another chance to receive this financial boost.

The PFD is a unique program in Alaska, funded by the state's oil revenues. It's designed to share the wealth from Alaska's natural resources with its residents.

To be eligible for the PFD, Alaskans had to meet certain criteria throughout 2023, such as living in the state all year round and not being convicted of a felony or some misdemeanors.

This $1,312 is not a new payment for 2025 but rather a continuation from the last cycle for those who missed it. The current payments are specifically for individuals who were eligible last year but didn't get their deposit, with the state government approving these delayed applications in stages.

Who’s eligible for April’s PFD check?

April's payments target those whose applications were approved recently, especially between April 10 and 17, or those whose approvals were delayed but met all criteria last year. The criteria include:

  • Being a full-year Alaska resident in 2023.
  • Not leaving Alaska for more than 180 days in a row, unless for specific reasons like health, education, or military service.
  • Having a clean legal record for 2023.

These payments are only for individuals who had their applications under review by March 31, 2024. So, new applicants for 2025 won't be eligible for these payments.

How to get your PFD check

Alaskans can check whether they're due to receive a PFD check by visiting the Alaska Department of Revenue's official website.

There, by entering their application number or personal information, residents can find out if their payment has been processed or if their application is still pending.

If you believe you're eligible but haven't received your check yet, you should:

  • Check if your application was recently approved.
  • Make sure your bank details on file are up-to-date.
  • Look into any possible administrative delays or errors.

The $1,312 PFD check is an important financial lifeline for many families in Alaska. Although this stimulus program is unique to Alaska, its ongoing support is a key example of state assistance in the U.S. Looking forward, the next PFD cycle is set to begin in October 2025, with the amount possibly being adjusted based on available funding and incomes.
